Defence
Supporting our Armed Forces and ensuring the UK plays a positive and responsible role in the world.

The UK’s Place in the World
Here in Dorset, one in seven people are part of the defence community, whether serving personnel, veterans, family members, or those working in the defence industry. That includes my own family: my husband served in the Navy, and my daughter is in the Army Reserves.
Through the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme (AFPS), I have had the privilege of gaining valuable, first-hand insight into military life and the challenges faced by our service personnel.
Around the world, from Ukraine and Palestine to Yemen, Myanmar, and across Africa, conflicts and crises highlight the vital role Britain must play in defending democracy, supporting peace, and upholding the international rules-based order.
