Protecting Our Environment
Fighting to secure the funding Dorset’s fire services need to protect our beautiful environment from fires.

Fighting Wildfires in Dorset
We are fortunate in Mid Dorset and North Poole to have beautiful natural landscapes on our doorstep. My environmental activism starts at home with a dedication to protecting these areas, but the scope needs to be global too as together we can combat climate change.
Wildfires this summer have devastated more than 70 football pitches’ worth of rare habitat in Dorset. These incidents, often caused by climate change, carelessness, or arson, show why urgent action is needed.
Action Snapshot:
-
I raised the issue in Parliament multiple times, calling for more funding.
-
I met with Dorset’s Fire Chief to discuss fire prevention and response.
-
I launched a campaign to ban disposable BBQs, a common cause of wildfires.
From me, a huge thank you to the firefighters and volunteers who work tirelessly to protect our countryside.
I called for a debate on resilience against climate-related crises
I challenged the Minister on the funding formula for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service
